No, it is not an artificial name, but a normal word (with no relations to cars, although there was at least one other car using it much later).

It was a bit of a shot in the dark as the words Châtelaine and Carde were associated in search results but the source page didn't exist anymore (even in Google's cache), so I couldn't check whether it was related to the puzzle car. I tried it anyway as I had no other clue !
