I agree it does look more 1948 than 1939..
The original puzzle makes no mention of Ferrer et Lacoste, who I assume really did build this?
In that case the re-posting could happen again...

I have just read to the best of my ability a thread on a French-language forum which discusses this car. It seems generally agreed that construction of the car began in 1938/39 but it was not finished until after the war, using aluminium left over from wrecked aircraft from the conflict. (Sounds familiar!).  The first competiton appearances were in 1948, and a regular driver was Charles Huc - indeed he finished 6th overall at the 1948 GP du Rousillon and there are many photos on the internet.

Oddly enough, an old puzzle of mine shows Huc in this car at Vila Real - I have incorrectly identified the car as a Deho, but I'm now sure it is the same as this puzzle car. Note the fin on the tail.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia
