Well, it has a Nardi look about it, so Nardi Fiat 1100, 1952?

Not a Nardi/Nardi Fiat or even Fiat and the year is quite far from 1952

Simca 8 Sport is correct but the year is wrong.
Do you know the coachbuilder?

it's a 1948 SIMCA HUIT JR (Jean Roux) with bodywork by Grolleau . Often mis-identified as a Deho Simca, it nevertheless has Deho parts from the original car upon which it was based.

Welcome to AutoPuzzles tobytwirl.
You're right that it's a Simca 8 Roux Special and that's it's not a Simca Deho, but it's not from 1948 and neither was it built by Grolleau.
I'll lock for you to look into though and see if you can find out what I'm looking for.
Good hunting!

My mistake, this is the last of the SIMCA HUIT JRs, and although similar to previous ones, it was bodied by Ferrer and Lacoste. My guess is that it is from 1950. An extract from a French website ( I have since lost its address) is my source:

Cette dernière a été réalisée à deux exemplaires par Jean Roux, garagiste à Le châssis ainsi que le moteur sont de base Simca-Huit. Le moteur
comporte des éléments de chez Deho, d'autres de chez Record, bielles et pistons
spéciaux. . La carrosserie a été réalisée par Ferrer et Lacoste, carrossier à Bodeaux.
 Roues à rayons Borrani.
La Simca-JR a été utilisée par Huc jusqu'au début des années cinquantes.

Charles Huc was its regular driver in competition.

Good progress!
Ferrer et Lacoste was indeed the builder,  but surprisingly it's from quite a bit earlier than 1950.
With the information you now have you should be able to go straight to the answer, so I'll keep it locked for you to come up with the correct year it was built.

It seems that other sources quote it as a 1939 car. I suspect that the original Simca on which it is based was from 1939, but its rebuild as a racer was post war. It was the second of the two Simcas and the first made its appearance in 1948. I rest my case ...... or does that sound like sour grapes because I did not get it right in the first place! Thank you for your patience.

It's possible you're right but I don't know with absolute certainty.

This is the info I was working on, from the site I got the picture off:

QUOTE
1939 Simca Roux Speciale Barquette

Pre-dating the swoopy lines of the Jaguar XK120 by almost a decade, this one-off Simca Roux special was a competition barquette, based around the standard mechanicals of a Simca 8. With an aluminium body built by Ferrer et Lacoste in Bordeaux, to a design by driver and ‘garagiste’ Jean Roux, the special has a magnesium tubular frame. Post-war the Roux competed in many French motor sport events between 1948 and 1952, notably the Grand Prix du Roussillon, Angouleme, the Montlhery Bol d’Or, Les Sables d’Olonne and the Grand Prix de Bilbao, mainly at the hands of driver Pierre Larrue.
UNQUOTE

So the answer I was looking for is 1939; now that I have that we'll call it solved but if anyone has more information regarding the accuracy of its build-date then I would welcome more news.

Merged.
I believe the car was built in 1948.
Here's a picture of it when it's been presented at the Fair of Bordeaux that year.
