It's French, yes, but not a Simca..

As in fact it is a Panhard out of Darrin.
But it's not from 1953, and it has a name of its own, which I need for the point.
As you've got so far I'll lock it for you for 24 hours to see if you can come up with the name, correct date and the other question posed in the original post.

Actually the quiz car is the derived version, built in 1954, named Aurore, with a different windscreen from 1953 model that had been shown on Road and Track from October 53.
The picture should be shot at Salon de Paris, 1954.

That's what I was looking for, yes.
In 1955 the whole project to market this Darrin-designed car in Europe as the Aurore fizzled out.
