1950 Sommer S1 from Denmark.

I don't know about the "based on," but an article I found said it had a "Jowett-Bradford drivetrain."

The attached picture is from the same article. Note the different-looking grille.

Yes, you've got the right car.
As you say, it had a Jowett Bradford engine and drivetrain, but I don't know about the chassis and whether it was bespoke.
Would you like to say what my puzzle picture shows though, as it looks a little different from the one in the picture you've posted?
Locked for you of course.

The only information I can find is in the same article. Based on that, I can only guess that your picture is either (1) another prototype (although the article says the one in the photograph is the only one), or (2) the same car prior to being modified so that the front didn't look as much like an Armstrong-Siddeley!

Yes, your second guess is right!
It was a 1949 prototype but the car was modified around the front before showing for exactly the reason you state!
So it's solved and a point is on its way.
Well done.

Now we have had all three versions of the S1:
- the first (with pictures of the second and third): http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=18973
- the second in this thread
- the third (with a picture of the second): http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=11585
