The wheels and general grille shape suggest Rosengart LR4 -  a special conversion to a little pickup. But as this is Autopuzzles, that would be far too obvious I imagine....... :D

I found this one listed both ways.  One site has it as being built on a VW Kübel chassis of WWII vintage.

Kohlruss loved to combine Steyr and VW parts. It doesn't look as if there was a VW engine between the rear wheels. (The wheels aren't VW ones either.)

I just stumbled over this thread whilst looking for other stuff. Anyways..

As a huge Kohlruss fan:
I am very happy to inform you that this car has survived.  :D :D :D

Well, at least one of these builds - i can't tell if it is the exact same one as shown on the photo. I also don't know if it was a unique build or more of them have been made.

The current owner contacted me a while ago - and if his spare time allows it, then it will be one of his next projects.
I already managed to see two pictures regarding his Kohlruss truck. One vintage, black & white one showing the same coachbuilt car (as pictured in the AP of this subject) - but from a different perspective.
And the second one is a photo-composition showing the current condition.

About a year ago, I already heard rumors of a Kohlruss pick-up that survived in form of cut parts. So it is very likely that it is this one.

He also mentioned that the car was built in 1949 - based on a VW Kübelwagen chassis and equipped with a Denzel engine!

I can't wait to receive more updates about his restoration and to see it back on the streets!

Cheers,
Alex
Highly interested in the work of coachbuilders from Vienna and Austria. Especially the ones that modified VW buses of the early 1950s. All info highly appreciated!!!

Title changed as it was based on a VW Kübelwagen chassis, used some body parts of a 1930's sedan and was equipped with a VW engine tuned by Wolfgang Denzel. Nowaadays it is refrérred to as the "Luxus Laster" (luxury truck). No idea whether it had this name at the beginning.
