Thank you for answering all the questions - it saves me having to lock the puzzle!

Tony Robinson was chief mechanic for the BRP team (he's in the suit in the photo) and rather reluctant as a designer, but his efforts were very fair. The car was funded by George Bryant who was Masten Gregory's stepfather.
