Yes, the base car was a '51 Ford but the bodywork looks late 1950s with those fins!

It looks as if it has a British Ford Prefect chassis, wheels and grille, but that's not a Brit background, so is it from the European Continent, for example, Germany? ???

Well spotted! I selected a side view of the car so that it might be more difficult. It's not Europe.

Since Ford parts were pretty widely available, its origin could be anywhere, but let's suggest USA as the country.
Although I doubt many US citizens would like a motor as small as 1172cc, I'd say those fins point to the US.

That's right. I realise now that my original puzzle question was rather vague, so I reckon the point can be awarded.

It is a 1951 Ford Prefect customised with a variety of American parts - the rear lights are from a Studebaker and the boot (trunk) lid is adapted from a Studebaker bonnet (hood).

It's a repost: https://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/2016-45/neh-4894

Yes, I spotted it was but just hadn't had atime to track down the original puzzle yet, which I knew was one of mine!

Thanks for the merge. I'm sure I checked the search for Prefect - I didn't check it for Ford! Haven't got all day.
