« on: August 08, 2016, 11:29:57 AM »
What is this car, who made it, when and why is it so important? All for 1 point.

Alfa but not Alfetta and not Bertone. And the player (what's actually a CP?) is a big clue.

CP should have been CD, if not Alfetta GTV6, then it's a Alfa 33, what you mean by who, car/interior designer or else?

Indeed a 33! And yes, this very special car was modified -mainly- in the interiors and the CD reader is part of the answer. Now it should be rather easy to identify which car is this one. To give you the point I need to know the whole story and the name(s) of who modified it.

If the CD is part of the answer, Philips was the first with the CD technology, possibly they modified the car with a "sound system" to demonstrate their know how.

Yes, Philips is heavily involved in this car. But how? And who made it?

Not Novati, as far as I know (and I'm pretty sure about my source, as it is an official press-kit).
The year is indeed 1983. And this is another big clue  ;).

So it's an Alfa Romeo 33, involved: Philips (compact disc) together with Palber in the year 1983.

All correct. Palber (Paolo Berra) made the car in 1983. Now you have all the clues to tell us why it is so special.

Locked for you (nobody else can answer now)

Mogul, you are very close to the answer... I'll keep it locked for you still for a few days, but to get the point you have to provide the full details.

It's an Alfa Romeo 33 modified by Palber (Paolo Berra) which includes a custom sound system with the first integrated in-car CD player by Phillips

The answer is indeed correct: first world application of a CD player into a car, made by Palber for Philips and Alfa Romeo.
But the puzzle was locked for Mogul.
Can an admin, please, suggest me if I've to award the point or not?

Finally, it is up to you, as it is your puzzle. You can declare this puzzle solved and:
- a) give no points at all, because Mogul didn't give the complete answer and Rusty Chrome was not allowed to answer, or
- b) give Mogul the point, because it was locked for him when it was solved, so Rusty Chrome's post was just a friendly addition, or
- c) give Rusty Chrome the point, because he provided the missing bits, or
- d) give both a point for their combined effort.

Personally, I'd choose b), but it is your puzzle.  :)

I think I'd give them both a point.
Rusty Chrome is quite new and perhaps isn't quite so familiar with the way it's done, and it wasn't actually fully clear that it was locked as you had said you would unlock it, which is maybe all Rusty Chrome read.  I think it's been a genuine error, but he was right so you could say he has earned a point.

Mogul has not actually logged on since he posted his reply (I also have a puzzle locked for him for over 10 days now); maybe he's on holiday, although to be honest he does have a history of only logging on once a week or once a fortnight, which isn't really often enough if you've given an answer which itself might have been answered, maybe with a request for more information.

However, I never like to lose sight of the fact that AutoPuzzles is only a game so there's no harm in being generous and giving them both a point in the spirit of the site.

Thanks, sorry but it's holiday period. Nice solution to give all a point. But basically I gave the full reply except I wrote early CD in car.... early and first is very close :-))
