1964 Mercury Lynx "X-Car".

I just knew that someday my misspent youth of model car building would come in handy for something. As I (dimly) recall, this was actually a scale model car, built as one of a group to illustrate a Mark Gustavson article on some previously unknown Lincoln-Mercury Division experimental cars supposedly "uncovered" in 2002 or so. It was all very well done as I remember, sort of an "April Fool" type article.

That's right, it was supposed to be the 'lost' Lynx X-7, the first prototype of the aborted Lynx project which was all shelved and hidden away by Ford in 1963/4..
The giveaway is that the car looks more like something from 1956 or 57, also there's no way they would have developed that as well as the Mustang at the same time, which was itself regarding as risky, though as time has shown it was a successful gamble!

So the only picture or model of this car which exists is this 1/43 scale model.

Well done.
