so a french racer but not with Panhard engine...

I don't think so. After building this car, he raced other Panhard cars built by other people.

My French is not good - I left school in 1969! That's the way I read the text in the French-language site, so I will award you the point on that basis. After he raced this car, he bought and raced an old DB monoplace.

If any other member of AP can tell me more, please do. I could have got this completely wrong.

According to the source, Claude Berton bought this Panhard racer in 1972. So he's not the builder of this car, that was obviously built much earlier. Unfortunately there is zero information about this car on the source website.

I read the story carefully..Apparently he didn't buld the car himself, but he acquired it in 1972 to compete in veteran racing. He then replaced it with a more modern Panhard monoplace. I spent a long time trying to find the original builder with no  results.

Sorry folks. I obviously misunderstood the text on the website - I thought it looked earlier than 1972 but then again I thought it was a homebuilt, so these are sometimes not to the latest design.

I will correct the title of the puzzle.
