Yes indeed.
Would you like to put a date on it, just to complete the questions asked in the original post?

Well, production started in 1960, but I'm pretty sure that the design exercise in the photo dates from 1956.

Understood it was 1957 but that'll do!

It's rather interesting to see Farina"s early thoughts on the 404.  It looks a lot more like a Morris Oxford V than the production car did.

Quite so.
I was rather looking forward to all the "Morris Oxford?" or "Austin Cambridge?" questions!

Where did the Fiat 1800/2100 fit into the scheme of things?  Wasn't it cloned to produce the Peugeot 404?

Yes, somehow it is. The 1800/2100 was still designed at Fiat, but still just before establishing the Styling Centre (when cars were styled by engineers  ;)). Giavosa was not totally happy with the results and therefore asked Pininfarina to make some little improvement. The 404 came just later.
But, generally, Pininfarina was rather used in re-proposing the same style on different cars. Think about the Corvette Rondine that becomes the Fiat 124, or the Lancia Flavia, developed from Fiat concept-cars. But the most important si the Alfa Romeo 164 and Peugeot 605. However, in this case there is also some legal dispute behind and that signed the end of the cooperation between Pininfarina and PSA.
