Post by: DHoffmann on March 20, 2015, 09:29:42 PM
Well this is a follow up to a years and years old original puzzle by the name of Out of Tune which featured 100 different tuned cars.

I've not gone quite as overboard this time, only 50 cars to be guessed!

Hi Cars, welcome! The aim of this particular puzzle is not to identify the base cars but rather who performed the tuning modifications. I'm afraid that I cannot accept these answers.

40. Delavilla Porsche Cayman R1 Yes indeedy!
48. Treser Audi 200 ? I have it as the 'Super 200', but I'll let it slide. :)

OK, I have some sources that say #28 had a V8 5.0 l. engine, and others say V8 3.8 l. Maybe they're two different cars (though they look the same to me) The one I got this from was fairly adamant that this is one is the 3.8, so I'll gladly accept that as correct - even if there may well have been both versions!

And is #39 a Styling-Garage (SGS) 190E City Fun? It IS! crazy little thing.

3. Autohaus Pahnhenrich Renault Alpine ? Binge!
9. Esquiss Auto 406 Coupe Sérénia I'm impressed, correct!
24. Is the 1.5L V6 TAG Turbo Formula 1 Engine Porsche 911? Not Sure Nope, definitely not.

I don't know if it's a phase 8, but it is a Phase Capri HO according to my documentation and all those words exist in your answer so that one is duly and finally all yours!

Not Autoperformance.

Note: This is the single and only source I have ever found on the HO Phase Capri - in one of my magazines -, for some reason their own website has no mention of it...
What's equally interesting is that the car in these images has Mercury badging (only just noticed) but it's an Australian modification so it may have just been the rear lights to complete a 'look'?

The "Phase 8" bit was just a guess, as their website mention a "Phase 7" Falcon made in the late eighties/early nineties, so that was a logical progresion. Anyway, thanks for the point ! Finding the solution was a huge relief after days of fruitless research !

I noticed the Mercury badging too, that's why my first guess was that it was an American car.
