Solved: Wendax 843 - Steyr 380 by Schreiner & Blaha
« on: March 20, 2013, 03:35:26 AM »
Recently I came across a coachbuilder I haven't heard before. How about you?

For one point, please respond and identify base truck and coachbuilder.

Just to start things off here, I believe the base truck is a Steyr 380 from the mid to late 1940's.  No idea of the coachbuilder just yet.

Yes, that truck is a Steyr 380. That earns you a lock for two tries concerning the coachbuilder.

I will be out and about all day, so please unlock it and give the rest of the lads a chance.

BTW, thanks for posting this pic.  In my research on Google.at and Google.de, I came across all sorts of "Lautsprecherwagen" photos in military service from the 1920's through 1945 which are very valuable additions to my photo library on military wheeled vehicles, my primary area of interest.

Back again.....

Still, no lock please.

Is the vehicle in "Government Service" or something used for a private company or enterprise, ie for advertising.  Sorry for two questions, one answer may give me a way to go.

I hardly have any information. I came across this coachbuilder in connection with another car, and this was the only picture online of one of their products. There is an online source that talks about a Lautsprecherwagen of this company, but on another chassis, in use for a workers' union.

The drawing on the banner shows something like a british Bradford commercial vehicle.

Is it a british coachbuilder?

We had already established that it is a coachbuilder from Vienna. You are right with the Bradford. Follow that trail.

No idea really. Was there a military link to foreign armies, like the british?

All bits there to put this one to rest: the place, the connected car brand and the business. A little bit of googling should produce the solution.

I've tried many different combinations of "Wien", "Jowett", "Bradford", "karosserie", "karosseriebau", "karosseriewerk", and absolutely nothing came up. What am I doing wrong ? Same with "Lautsprecherwagen" and "Gewerkschaft". Obviously quite a bit of Googling is not enough !

If you pick the right three of the search words you listed, the text which holds the solution will appear at the top of the list. At least it did when I tried.  ;D

Schreiner & Blaha !

"weiters ein Foto des englischen Kleinlastautos "Bradford", von dem aus Gründen der Devisenerparnis nur Fahrgestell und Führerhaus importiert, Aufbauten und Karosserie aber von der "österreichischen Firma Schreiner & Blaha" hergestellt wurden"
