His team was called Renngemeinschaft Offenburg, and there seems to have been 3 cars in total.  One of them was the pre-war Assenheimer car rebodied, maybe this is that car?

You are right that there were three cars, but it is not the Assenheimer car.

The Assenheimer car was driven usually by Albert Farre, so maybe this is the car driven by Hans Georg Mall? I am not sure whether you mean this is a Molders-prepared car driven by someone else, or that the car in the puzzle is being driven by Molders and you need more information about it, which I cannot provide  ;D.

Well, time to end the torture.  ;)
It is in fact the Mölders car we had before: http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=17633
After WW2 the body was altered to make it more competitive by improving the aerodynamics. When the car was discovered again, no parts of these modifications were attached anymore, so that it was decided to restore it according to its prewar looks.

One more point for you.

Thanks for the point. I got a bit confused. I did know about the rebody, but didn't think that was what you were looking for.
