It seems to be rear-engined, so is it perhaps a Wilhelm Hofmeister design proposal for an updated BMW 700? To me, though, it looks very Italian, something Vignale may have been proud to present.

You are right about the base car, but it was not done by Wilhelm Hofmeister.

Just to make things perfectly clear, do you confirm that the base car is a BMW 700?

I have to correct myself. Judging by the year this drawing was made, it is not based on a 700, but on another rear-engined BMW.

Based on my -highly- limited knowledge of BMW cars, I can think only of one another rear-engined one: the BMW 600.

But it doesn't look like that's the base of that car, or is it?

Unless it's a model that was not badged under the BMW name?
