Bob Gurr did at least one three-wheel design that I've seen - could this be one of his?

Not him.

A hint: he is still alive, and that is a bigger hint than it looks like.

It is a big hint, as there is a film documentary in production called "American Dreaming", dealing with post-war car design from the 1940s to the early 1970s. The makers are aiming to interview designers who were active during this period, and are still alive. There's a short video preview available online, and at one point the puzzle picture appears in the background - screencap below.

I must admit I hadn't heard of him, but this is Rodell Smith, currently 92 years old, who worked for Ford, Hudson, Packard and Chrysler.

Well found. Is that documentary going to be a film or television release? It definitely sounds like something I want to see.

Well done, Tom. I hoped that someone had seen the trailer.  :)
One more point for you.
