Found it. Volkswagen EA337 (Mk1 Golf) Prototype. I noticed the C-pillar was thicker than the 127's and went from there. Interesting. One has to wonder if there was some "cross-pollination" happening in the development phase of these cars...

One has to wonder if there was some "cross-pollination" happening in the development phase of these cars...I wouldn't call it cross-pollination... That would imply both the parts are aware. But there have been good times when VW was copying from Fiat. And not only VW. The most discussed case was when Ford created an engineering centre in Turin outskirts to study new concepts of compact cars. They studied it so well that the result - the 1st generation Fiesta - was so similar to the 127 (the chassis is almost identical) that Ford risked a very dangerous lawsuit from Fiat and had to quickly close the engineering-centre (and nobody knows if also to pay to have Fiat not suiting them).
