Is it one of those 'pretend' fifties cars created by Mr Wheatcroft a few years ago ? I ask this because I believe one of them has come to live over here....

No,  thank goodness. This is a bona fide period car.

OK...Question time...Did this device ever have ambitions to be a Grand Prix car ?
Although it looks as though it might have an MG engine.....so probably not.....
Body shape appears to be from 1952 or thereabouts. Is it the original ?

Morning Willie. I admire your perseverance, and to repay this I will provide some answers which may or may not assist with a solution.

It was never intended to be a GP car. It does not have an MG engine, but it is powered by a motor from the same "combine". It was built a couple of years after your guess and I believe the car still carries the bodywork from that date.

Try working out the country of origin..........

They would indeed!  ;).

It's the Mac Healey built in 1954 by Peter de Mac using what he could salvage from a Healey 100 which had been burnt out prior to delivery to its first owner. The car was extensively campaigned in period and still exists today.
