Sorry for my slow reply - I missed your post somehow.

Yes, it is indeed British.

It looks like an ABC 12/30, but I can't say I've seen one with the low rear body line so perhaps it's a Supersports from 1925

1922 Wigan-Barlow 11/40

Sorry Allan, not an ABC, because it is indeed a Wigan-Barlow, built from 1922-1923 in Coventry with a 1795cc Meadows engine.

A short-lived car and not one I know although it's in the list of Coventry makes. I don't think an 11/40 would have an engine as large as 1795cc. Meadows engines were used in Lea-Francis cars from 1923 and their 4EB 1247 cc engine, introduced in 1922, was rated as 9.8 h.p. Later 4 cylinder Meadows engines were 1496cc and rated at 11.9 h.p.

You can blame Nick Georgano for my claim!

GNG says 1496 cc Meadows in the 1968 First Edition and the 1984 Third.  Must have added errors later!?!

I have the Beaulieu 2-volume edition.  I've just checked it and it still reads the same. I was a late starter to Georgano - I eventually persuaded my (then) wife that it was an investment. Sucker.
