I knew you of all people would know this car. That's a clue really, but I suspect the Rookies won't understand the connection.......

Bill Skelly's 14hp Lea Francis Special!
I was sure it was some sort of Allard, but the 'Allan connection' gave it away  ;D

I think the spelling is Bill Skelly, but you've got the car and builder as far as I'm concerned. Yes - I should NOT have mentioned Allan's name!

The car was built in 1949, and is being driven in the photo by Ted Lund.

I attach a photo of the car during restoration - the company which did the work say it was a car they built, but I think it's just a new body.

We think the photo shows Ted Lund at Snetterton, but perhaps Nicanary kows otherwise.
I don't know who is claiming to have built the car but it was Ivan Dutton who restored it a few years ago.
Billy Skelly was an apprentice at Lea-Francis and was able to combine a dry-sump midget racing engine with a 14 h.p. Sports chassis and had a certain amount of technical help from the company.

On the site of Chesterton Coachworks it is captioned as "Lea-Francis special constructed in our workshops". The body looks brand new, so I expect they restored the car and built a new body on the lines of the old one.

Yes, the car is captioned as competing at Snetterton, but I don't remember any corners with barrels and an earth ramp in front of the spectators like that. I thought it looked more like Goodwood.
