Ruggeri Grand Prix from 1950's.

(Asking if it was finished, was just a placemarker for me.  Within 24 hours before you posted this puzzle, I saw the exact same picture.)

Any idea what type of cylinders are in that sideways engine?  Can't quite figure it out.

Looking at the source pictures, it looks like a transverse straight-8, tipped over so combustion is at the front of the engine.  All the fins indicate it may be air-cooled.  I wonder if more than 2 of these engines/transaxles were ever built?

That's pretty much all I had. The car appeared at Techno Classica Essen.

I´ve had the pleasure to see it myself in the flesh some weeks ago.
I´ve talked to a sales manager of Hall&Hall to get more information about the car and he brought me a file with some copies of magazine clippings.

It still seems to be a kind of phantom, because nobody really knows when it has been finished.
I think I can remember he has talked about a construction and building time from 1948-1953.

I was a bit in hurry, because the fair was huge and I did not want to be too impolite, so I did not make photos of the clippings.

But here are 5 of my personal photos, shot at Techno Classica 2012 ( http://www.autopuzzles.com/forum/index.php?topic=20177.0 ):

Yes, and I had to decide whether to make a puzzle out of it or show it in my Techno Classica photo essay.
There  is not too much information about it available.

It would be great if we could gather some more within this post.

I'm really surprised this hasn't been on AP before. What exactly are we looking at here?

It has been a puzzle before -I looked under every permutation of names, but left one out of my search!

I'll leave it here for the Rookies, and then decide what to do.

I think your spelling is correct. That's really something for a man from Portavogie..... ;D.

It's a very good guess, but sadly it's not that car. The puzzle car has been featured before on this site, but fully clothed.

Well, as a 'blow in' I haven't passed my Ulster-Scots exams yet.....It couldn't be a Bugatti 251 could it ?
I don't think so but.....
And then a little bird whispered 'Tatra'.  But what do seagulls know ?

Not a Bugatti nor a Tatra - much more obscure. The car was never fully completed, and didn't race.

Plenty of seagulls round Kirkistown way, so there are.

That took a few minutes longer than I expected. Yes, absolutely correct - we've had  the car before, but this view of the chassis is interesting. As far as I know , both body and chassis still exist, but have never been joined together.

The project was ended in 1955.

(Could this be merged? The previous puzzle was titled "Ruggeri Grand Prix".)
