It's unlikely they stretch back that far but they probably did come from something else!

No, as I said before, it's not by one of the better-known makers..

It is from Ukraine, yes, but I have a different name for it..
I'll lock it for you until your next reply to look further into it.

It is the  Stekloplastik Lany. The first prototype was built in 1972, utilizing GAZ M-21 Volga parts, clothing it with a modern, fibrelgass body. The Stekloplastik Production Association together with a local body shop supported the project and it is claimed that around 8 cars were built.

Well, that's right  but did you not spot this?:

That was only yesterday and the lock has not been removed..

If you don't respect a lock again I'll subtract a point rather than add one!

Correct name - Lan ("Лань" / Doe)
Without the word ''Stekloplastik'' (aka ''Fiberglass'')
Engine VAZ 1500, rear suspension from the VAZ, front suspension - Moskvich.
In 2015 the car was sold as "Moskvich Lan"

This is what it said on the site I got the pictures from:

QUOTE
The annual rally of Retrograd, a Ukrainian club of classic cars shapes up to become really interesting. In addition to the Hadi-2, which we already featured, there will be another self-built car there

Lany was conceived by the same students who built the Hadi-2. The first prototype was built in 1972, utilizing GAZ M-21 Volga parts, clothing it with a modern, fibrelgass body. The Stekloplastik Production Association together with a local body shop supported the project and it is claimed that around 8 cars were built.

One has recently been restored and it is for sale. This one will participate at the Retrograd Rally.
UNQUOTE

I guess the word 'Stekloplastik' refers to the Stekloplastik Production Association, who did have some involvement.

The car was designed and built in 1972 by SARB / САРБ (Северодонецкая Авторемонтная База / Severodonetsk Auto Repair Base) and Severodonetsk Production Association "Stekloplastik" (Северодонецкое производственное объединение «Стеклопластик») from Lugansk region, Ukraine, USSR.
Lan was built by the same students (J. Balyasny and B.Krutenko) who built the Hadi-2, Zarya, Start and other..

Carnut was quoting my article and believe me, I had enough trouble translating the patchy Russian-Ukrainian texts :) But thanks for clearing this up

richard cuyler

Very neat, isn't it? And apparently nicely built. Lots of 1961 Chevrolet Impala influence in the rear end design.   ;) :D

Carnut

Yes, it's very nicely done and doesn't look like a glass-fibre car.
Those rear lights look a bit Italian; or are they French?  Or neither?!
