basically it is XKC054 the Brontosaurus and is the initial form of the new D type built on the old C type space frame chassis.
it was tested at Silverstone late 1953

Malcolm Sayer called it the XK120C MkII and it was sometimes referred to in the works as XPII, all this according to the best book on competition Jaguars.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Sorry to come in so late.  This car is XKC054, the prototype C/D Type.  But it is NOT the 'Brontosaurus' which was a different prototype with faired in wheels.

Thanks D-type.
I wasn't looking for the Brontosaurus name but I thought Terry was the fount of all Jaguar knowledge so I assumed he was right and included the name.
He mentioned the same chassis number so is it in fact the same car with a different body?

Agreed, I wouldn't expect Terry to get it wrong.  But, from what I've read the Brontosaurus was not built on chassis XKC054
