One of the editors has advised me that I'd left details on the original photo which would have been of considerable use in solving this puzzle. You were all asleep!

It's an Australian car called the Mini-Din, it was based on a Skoda chassis, and powered by a Holden engine.

It's an Australian car called the Mini-Din, it was based on a Skoda chassis, and powered by a Holden engine.

It took an Aussie to solve it. Built by Ralph Sach and John Cummins. I don't think I would want to drive it at any speed.
