What's this, by whom, from when and based on what - for 1 point?:

Remember - solving puzzles using 'Google Search by Image' is BANNED on AutoPuzzles!

Yet another lucky find (while researching another Carnut puzzle!) This seems to be the Australian Special dubbed Project X, a tiny, mid-engined, Mini-powered exercise from Mike McCarthy in 1965 and featured in issues of Sports Car World and McCarthy's book.

Yes, you're right.
For my 4000th puzzle I wanted to post something very difficult if not quite impossible and I thought I'd found it.
Even Googling with the full answer or using Google Search by Image produces no results at all!
The fatal error I made was posting the Valano as well, completely overlooking the fact that the Valano is featured in the same magazine as the Project X, so any search for Valano will produce an image of the front cover of SCW.. D'oh.... What an idiot!

Here are some more pictures:

I got that magazine!

So it wouldn't have lasted long in the Pro's then..!
I have it too, sitting right here on my desk; the picture I used for the puzzle is of course not available anywhere on the 'Net.
A good foot-shooting exercise by me!

Congrats on 4000, Carnut! Sorry to deflate the moment a bit; it's not like you have a problem finding unique and challenging puzzles! But no matter how you try, you can't eliminate dumb luck as a contributing factor in finding their solutions -- and for that I'm grateful  ;D
