Vauxhall Cresta/Velox PB. If it had twin exhausts it would be the velox.

Well, yes the base car is a Vauxhall Cresta PB, but that's not the answer I'm looking for; that would be just a little too easy!
Since the Velox and Cresta had identical 2.6 litre straight 6 engines (and later 3.3 litre) I think they both had twin exhausts..

Seem to recall my mate's uncle mentioning the twin as a go faster option at the time...

I missed Radford out for the posh interior, extra lights and chrome bits.

Yes indeed, it's the Radford Cresta.
The common or garden Vauxhall only had single headlights, whether a Velox or a Cresta.
The first one with twin headlights was the PC Cresta de Luxe (which the Cresta became with the PC model, when the Velox became just the simple Cresta).

I thought that the sunroof was a giveaway that it was the Radford version  -  or was it available on "regular" Crestas as well?

It was an aftermarket fit.
I think a factory one would generally have been of the sliding steel variety, but sunroofs were not popular options in the UK at that time and would not be available on most cars.

Sunroofs were almost always an aftermarket glass or fabric (webasto style) fit, even into the 80s!

That's true, although you could even get an aftermarket sliding steel one.
I had one fitted on my Alfasud Sprint when it was new and nearly drowned every time it rained....

I just wondered if the sunroof was a part of the Radford package . . . I seem to recall a piece of sales literature for the Radford Cresta, and that car also had the sunroof. I don't recall if it was included in the package, though.

You'd need to see the sales literature to answer that I think.
It might have been a cost-option but I would have thought it would probably be standard as Radford would be charging a hefty premium for this car and would need to tart it up with as many toys as practical to justify the price and encourage anyone to buy one..

I believe you're probably correct. I'll have to see if I can locate a Cresta Radford brochure . . . which may be an interesting search in itself!

There's one on fleabay, £47 delivered for 4 pages...
off topic again, weren't the sud sprints even more water soluble than the standard ones? Looked like a mini gtv, went out with a lass that had a black cloverleaf. On reflection maybe I was more into the car than her!

You're absolutely right there.  It was W reg so that means I got it (new) in January 1981 I believe.  It had almost completely rusted away when I got rid of it in August 1983 and got a VW Scirocco GTI; I'd had enough of Alfas at that point, although I returned to them in 1994 and had 3 in a row before getting another VW (an Eos).  They were much better by then!
