That's the car, yes, though I had it as from 1985 rather than '87.
BJS stands for Ben J. Sparham who designed and built it but unfortunately it never made production past this single one.

Besides that they both use Ford Cortina as the base, I doubt that there's any connection between two. Who knows more?

I don't think there was any connection.
Although it looks vaguely similar nothing about it is actually the same; the Cygnet was made originally in Northampton then later  in Wootten by ex-Aston Martin engineer Peter Child.
