built recently, within last 3 years?

I can't say for sure when this car was first introduced, but your estimation is in the right range. And the car is currently still in production.

The puzzle car is actually raced in its own series, so neither Super GT nor Super Taiku obviously.

This one has been bugging me as I knew I'd seen it before. 

I have now just remembered what it is, as I had saved it myself as a future potential puzzle!

It is the West Racing Vita-01, built by West Racing Cars in Japan.
A car is for life, not just for Christmas.
