Solved - MJW #036 - Valano GT225
« on: September 28, 2010, 04:06:35 PM »
Looks familiar?
Of course it does!
One point for make, builder, year and what powered this car.

Is it a JWF Milano GT with Holden six?

Can I just say you are correct in that it looks similar to a JWF Milano but this car does not have a Holden engine.
It also has a name that is not dissimilar to Milano.
No more clues for the moment.

That's the car!
Can I ask you for the year, who built it and which engine powered this car as per the original request?

I wanted to make sure I was right first!
It was built by amateur racer Alex Smith 1965/7 and used Chrysler Valiant power.
He was helped by a friend who worked at Chrysler's engineering department.

Of course, excellent reply Carnut.
Another point for you.
I have attached another view of the car to illustrate the difference from a regular JWF Milano

This one has been pictured here before a long time ago, but I don't think as its own puzzle.
What is it, by whom and from when - for 1 point?:

Indeed there is a Milano connection so I'll lock it for you for 24 hours to see if you can find what it is.

No, it's not a Nota (now there's an anagram!)

You got this one in front of the net, Willie - you spotted that Milano body but this one is actually the Valano GT 225 - an un-slanted Valiant six cylinder under modified JWF Milano fiberglass. Built by Alex Smith circa 1964.

Somehow the powers-that-be need to create an "assist" level of points.   :)

Absolutely!
I sometimes give a point to 2 puzzlers if someone nearly got there but got trumped before I managed to lock it, but on this occasion Willie didn't quite get to the answer and did have it locked for him for some time without him getting to the bottom of it, so I'm afraid it's just your point this time datsone!
