Yes, I was wondering if someone had mated a Buckler chassis to a JWF body but it was a bit of a long shot.
The body really does look like a JWF but that has already been discounted; I can't find anything that looks as much like this..

  I'm back home on Wednesday, so I will check my source again then, but from memory there is no Buckler or JWF connection, despite it's JWF-esque styling.

No, not yet as I got home very late last night, and now repacking to go to Paris this weekend (for Auto Medon, if any AP users are there?), so realistically it will now be next week.  Sorry

I'm as baffled as you. I did wonder whether the Repco Holden was fitted at some point or other with a hardtop so that it would comply with the Australian GT regulations, rather like the D-types and Maser 300S, and thought this might be it.

I can't find anything. This must be a photo from an Australian magazine of the period. Where's Craig Gillingham?

Yes, that's what I thought too.
It looks vaguely like the Repco Holden pictured below around the grille and the wheel-arches so I thought it might get us a bit further along the road to solving the puzzle!
The trouble is we been told already it's not a Repco special...

You're right about the screen. It was one of yours - NEH3330.

.......and that screen looks like a c.1961 Holden EK.

Well done, it is a Jewitt Holden, the one-off GT Coupe model to be precise, so another point to Carnut.

Australian Jim Jewitt built a number of two-seater sports cars, but this one was his only closed coupe.  It was built in 1959, using a 2.5-litre Holden motor, mounted in a specially-commissioned Hedley Thomson twin 3" tube chassis.  I'm pleased that it caused so much consternation!
