DH I special , built by Dave Hegarty , in Dublin 1957 to 61, photo is from scrutiny for phoenix park races  1962 its only competition appearance , more details to follow

further details , ladder chassis , f/glass body , car designed and built by Dave , he learht welding , working f/glass including making the body buck/moulds , engine /gear box BMC A series, de dion rear end , how I know this I was the last owner of the car , a work of art , I had the pleasure of meeting Dave a couple of years ago and he related the whole story

Well done Shamrock, it is indeed the lovely DH1 special built by David Hegarty in the late 1950s.  Another point to you.

Very interesting to hear that you once owned this car, you lucky chap.  Do you know if it still exists, and if so, is it working?  I ask as I'm involved in the car selection for a rather famous annual historic motor race meeting on the English south coast, and it would be great to see the DH1 there.  Thanks.

alas no it doesnt survive , it was scrapped by a friend where I kept it unrestored , I do have the two doors which were not on the car

Oh, that's a shame.  At least some part of the car has survived though!
