It looks like a mixture of such design highlights as Morris Marina or Ford Pinto.

Was it planned for a European subsidiary of one of the Big Three?

I admit it has a certain Fiesta resemblance, but it has nothing to do with Ford.

There's actually no production car that emerged from that project. My source doesn't mention any VW involvement either.
