That's right.
It's usually Italian design influencing other countries' rather than American design influencing the Italians, but on this occasion it was the other way around.
Strictly speaking I suppose it should be by Pinin Farina rather than Pininfarina, which didn't actually officially become one word until 1961, although most post-war designs of theirs seem to refer to 'Pininfarina'; this being pre-war however I believe it should be two words.

We've actually had this before 8 years ago (when it was described as being by Pininfarina - one word!) so it now has to be merged.
