Well inevitably it would just have turned into a game of going down the list that already exists, nothing really sporting about that to make you have to go through it so what the hell!
Although I have been living in or near Hamburg all my life and am riding Hochbahn buses every day, I haven't heard or seen of this one before. 
I don't know if it was ever produced or licenced out to another manufacturer to make, unfortunately my source doesn't go over what eventually happened to it, so unless you were aware of
this specific competition being held I don't think you could realistically have known.
(Or had my source, of course...)
