I thought I would just say - the exhaust is on the wrong side for a Jaguar XK engine. So either the photo has been reversed at some time, or there's a very complicated exhaust system under that bodywork.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Looking at 12 pages of results by D-Type drivers, the only name that fits is a Dan Boylan, but can't be since you wrote it's not Boyle but Boy___.
I thought it could be a Boyd/Boyde and browsing the 87 chassis history files recorded in a certain website, the only name that matches is George Boyd, who had #XKD529 in the 70s.

Sorry - I oversaw this one - I´d say, this point goes to Paul Jaray.

The name I have is indeed "George Boyd" and his "Hot Jag" as Hot Rod magazine named it.

Unfortunately I did not save the date and # of the magazine when I scanned this article loooong long time ago (ca. 1999)

So please excuse the bad quality.

The Ford engine was replaced by a XK 120 block with XK 150 head if I read the blurred text correctly...

As this was a black hole puzzle there were two points to be awarded, of course!

The XK engine is mounted as you would expect, but seems to be angled downwards at the transmission end - it looks like the exhaust goes down and under, and then across to the other side!
