Neither of those.

LHD might give some clue, but not really...

On a previous page we had guessed Hillman, Alvis and Jaguar - I assume it's not one of those marques.

Could it be one of the Lanchester Sprite prototypes?
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

That was to be my next guess when Triumph proved to be wrong..
But then barrett gave a little clue with his 'LHD' reference and I don't know if there were ever any LHD Lanchesters..!

The OP has told us that it's a fairly up-market marque, but so many of the "bank managers" cars weren't built with export in mind. I'm struggling with this one.

Did Lagonda plan a relaunch in the mid-50s with a smaller car?

We need to wait for barrett's replies before we start making any more guesses!

Is the body by an Italian Carrozzeria? Pininfarina perhaps?

Is this a prototype for a manufacturer, or a design proposal based on an existing chassis?

Daimler has already been ruled out (I tried that one!) but both Michelotti and Vignale seem quite plausible.
Perhaps for Standard?  A replacement for the mid fifties Vanguard Vignale?

Any BMC    (Part of my post did not appear - this is a list of marques ruled out.)
Ferguson
Singer
Hillman
Humber
Rover
Alvis
Jaguar
Vauxhall
Triumph
Daimler
Lanchester
Lagonda (?) (I'm not sure if this has been ruled out)

There's not much left - I'm personally ruling out Frisky. Those wheels look like they're from the mass-produced range of the maker. Standard looks like a good call, they were always considered a little bit upmarket from Ford and BMC.

Do I take it it's not Standard either then?

I'll wait till Barrett confirmed if it's Standard or Jensen or none of those.

I can't wait to find out what it is - it's a photo I've never seen before. There's one other quality marque we haven't mentioned which I'm keeping to myself, but I'm sure it won't be correct because one of the Pros is an authority on that subject, and he's not been on this thread.

A proposed 4-door Riley to try and poach some of the Rover P4 customers?
