Definetly not me.
I was intrigued by your puzzle from day 1.
I tried the usual way and then decided to use GSI, knowing I'd be out of the game.
I was  not satisfied by the few info I found online and I managed to contact the previous owner of it, or better, his wife.
Mr Searle, knowing I was looking for him and his car, directly put those pics in my Facebook page.
Dzima, that is one of my FB friends saw it and reported here the id of the car.
I feel responsable for that, even if I was not going to spoil your puzzle here or on FB too, because I know that many contacts of mine are also AP members, but couldn't imagine that Searle's answer would be directly on my page and with a couple of pics!

OK, understood.

So, Dzima, do you think repeating a picture and information gleaned from PJ's Facebook page is in fact solving the puzzle in the spirit of the game?

To be honest, I do not know.
This photos were published by an unknown (for me) man on the FB page of my friend Paul.
Apparently it was necessary to ask Paul about this photos and puzzle car..
Following this logic, if I found another photo puzzle on Facebook (or any other social network), I need to check that the person is a member of our site?

I'm not sure myself either; that's why I asked.
There are members who did a lot of research and delving but came up with nothing.
It just seems a bit of a let-down to find an image in a non-car place (though of course that particular page belongs to a very well-known car-man, though you must ask yourself: why didn't PJ post the answer himself?).

On the other hand, who says the answer has to come from a car-related site?  It can come from anywhere of course...

I'll have to think about it!

This saga would make an intriguing plot for a mystery movie.  You should sell the rights to Spielberg  :D

My 2 cents : rules should be kept plain and simple :
1 - don't use GSBI
2 - respect the locks
3 - there is no rule number 3

Hence dzima1985 should get a point.

My 2 cents:
There are rules and rules: some of them are written and quite clear, others must be found in ourselves.
It's a game based on points, but points are not all this place is about.

To be honest, I do not know.

No, Dmitry, it was not necessary...but it was an act of courtesy in any case: if, like you said, you thought I was not aware of the puzzle but even more if you thought I was looking for the puzzle.

The logic is this: you find a pic in my page, you know it's an hard-nut puzzle. What do you do/think?
You think I'm in contact with someone who knows it and I'm trying to solve it and found the answer to score the point? Then you should not take advantage of that by being faster.
You think by pure coincidence and sheer luck someone just drop out of the blue in my page the answer of a puzzle and I do not recognize/know it? Then again, you should warn me and tell me that I have just been given the answer of a nice puzzle.
Hey, we are Facebook friends after all!  ;D

Sorry to have caused the confusion, not knowing about Auto Puzzlers I didn't realize the concept.  The car is Canadian, 327 4bbl engine, transmission and differential are all from Caprice with lower geared rear end, 4:11 or 4:56....Can't remember.  Was built in Victoria, British Columbia.  Very light and very quick.

Welcome to the site!
Ah - that Victoria...
I mistakenly thought it was Victoria state in Australia (where Melbourne is) since I was Googling for Australian specials; I should have realised by the registration plate, but it was not dissimilar to some Aussie ones.
Sorry for the confusion..  No wonder no-one could find it..
