It's an Amilcar C6 with a body by a totally obscure coachbuilder called "Ateliers de Grenelle", supposedly based on a Farina design. I had to browse pretty much all Amilcar pictures available on the web before finding it.

Well done, a point for you. For me this coach builder was completely unknown as well.

It looks bigger than a C6-based car should, to my eye at least.
I understood the C6 to be the production version of the CO, still with supercharged twin-cam 6-cylinder 1100 cc motor, with 2235 mm wheelbase and 1060 mm or 1090 mm track.

I agree, but that's what the info said on the net. The car was part of the collection of the King Bhumibol of Siam.

Well, it does appear to me as though the body of the puzzle car sits on a chassis which is far too small for it..!

The car's tracks might have been extended a bit when the car was rebodied (still the body seems too wide for its chassis). Anyway, according to its rather ungainly proportions (short, narrow and tall) the rebodied car looks fairly small, in any case much smaller than the Delahayes or Talbots suggested by other puzzlers. So the Amilcar basis doesn't sound absurd.

This car was a PreWarCar puzzle and this is what was answered:

"About Quiz # 320. 1926 Amilcar CO ! (Update C6)"

". . ."It is an Amilcar C.O. The engine (No. 90025), a 4-cylinder Simca 1200 cc is connected to a 4-speed electric gearbox. The "Coupe" body (Chassis No. 11041) was built by Ateliers De'Grenelle in Paris, based on a Farina design. The car was bought in Switzerland by HM King Bhumibol as a rolling chassis for experimental purposes. The original body proved to be too heavy and was later changed into its present one."

And then corrected:

"The Amilcar chassis number you give pertains to a C6, not C0, and the engine number pertains also to a C6, not a Simca."
