Solved - WFM403: 1921 Packard Twin Six
« on: March 19, 2014, 07:23:34 AM »
A semi commercial vehicle this time.

Maker, model and date (range) gets a point.  I have not found the coachbuilder yet.

Hi Frederick:

Super Stretch is probably a good term and it is on a passenger car chassis but not a Cadillac.

Hi Frederick:

Sorry, not a Chevrolet either.  If it helps, the car is not longer made.

Sorry, Frederick, Lincoln is still being made.  The maker of the puzzle car is no longer in business.

Hi, Radiator and bonnet have a humpy profile sp could be Buick or Packard. Wheelhubs look Packard. Eventually found a photo of the vehicle marked "1921 Packard bus conversion parked on residential street". There were a number of stretched Packards made by specialist body builders. I have some doubts on 1921 and think it could be a cca 1924 Eight.  Regards  Vintman

Hi Frederick/Vintman:

Frederick: It was "popular" but not very high production numbers were reached.

Vintman: I don't like to be over demanding, but you have the proper brand, Packard, and I have the same date more or less.
However, if you found it on the net, it is probably from the same source I used and that source gave also the model designation.

I am having problems with headings as I get back into posting puzzles but at least here in the thread, I am locking this one for you for 24 hours to give me the model designation.

The Aussie site did not have other details but have also found it on Ebay (!!) as being a Packard 1921 Twin Six; presumably the 3-35. Regards Vintman

Hi Vintman:

Exactly so and I have added a point for you.  I will attempt to move it properly to "solved" but it may take a couple of tries.
Nice job.  BTW, it may well be this was produced by the Packard Factory itself as a corporate personnel carrier.

Found another photo of it on the Coachbuilt site saying made by the Buffalo Body Corp: “Buffalo Body Corporation, Buffalo, N. Y. manufacturers of fine automobile bodies, has completed installation of additional equipment and is actively engaged on a large special order of enclosed bodies for the Packard Motor Car Company. They will employ several hundred additional skilled enclosed body builders at their plant at Buffalo.”  Regards Vintman
