The back end reminds me of the pagoda roofed Mercedes 230SL. Is it a stretched saloon prototype?

Yes, it's a Mercedes prototype but I need specifics so I'll lock it for you for 24 hours to see what you can find.

We've had the 4-door version of the car as a puzzle before but not this '2-door coupé'.

I think it's a coupe on the near side (in the puzzzle pic), and a sedan on the far side - note the placement of the door pillars.

Aha - an early 3-door car!  Well spotted; in that case it should be merged?
