Two Mysteries – One Puzzle: solved by João and faksta
« on: August 14, 2010, 05:17:55 AM »
These cars are shelved quite a long time on my HD.
Unfortunately without any meaningful description.

I reward one point for each properly identified car.

Is it an optical illusion, or does the driver of car 44 have an enormous head?

Okay, a re-post as I noticed now. :-\
Will split both pics and merge it with the original Dulon LD6 GT topic afterwards

I'll call that car "deja vu".
It seems so familiar, but I can't find it.
The back view reminds me of a french DB, the front view is very Abarth (that logo...) and the Argentinian flag suggest a Cisitalia connection...and the design seems the one of a less known Ferrari...

I guess it's too small for a Ferrari, but I agree with you – it loooks very familiar...

One Argentinian site has a tiny picture of this car named 'abarth' in their Sold section, but nothing more than that.

The chassis length and wheels suggest MG Midget or Sprite based?

I happen to know this car.
It's a Cisitalia with much of its background shrouded in mystery.
It is believed to have been built from a crashed Abarth Cisitalia racing car in 1957 with a coupe body by Carrozzeria Galicio in Argentina.
It's as much fun to scare as to be scared

Very good, yes.
But there is still more info needed for the point, about what the car was before it was rebuilt in Argentina.
So it's locked for you to dig into and find the full story about its origin.

Where have you gone Oswald?!
I'll keep this locked for you for the time being as you have the car but all the original questions still need to be answered.
I can't keep it locked for too much longer though..

Still here!
I've found some more info on the car.
It is said to have been built on an Abart-Cisitalia racing car and according to some it is 'most likely' based on the first Cisitalia 2-seater race car that was ever built by Dante Giacosa...

Yes - that's about what I was looking for! The original car (which I have as a Cisitalia-Abarth..) was from 1946.
So it's solved now - well done.
Actually I'm going to have to merge it as this car has been puzzled before, though there is now added information with Oswald's reply as above.
Looking at the title you'll see why it didn't show up on Searching...

Here's another view:
