I know that the source of the puzzle image calls it a trials car, but that looks like the old raised pit lane at Silverstone. I reckon it was taking part in a club meeting of some sort, or even the 6-hour relay race.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

I agree it looks like Silverstone and the driver's wearing a crash helmet. It's a photo used in David Kinsella's book where it is described as "full trials bodywork".
It's not at the Six-Hour Relay as the number is wrong both in size and style - we used team numbers with a letter for each team member.  We used to get a group of Allards at the Eight Clubs meeting for many years but offhand I can't remember this J1
