I often saw these little pickups stranded at the roadside with one front wheel right up into the wheelarch, after the upper front suspension mounting (for the combined damper-and-top wishbone) had pulled away from the bulkhead, just as Morris Minors had done for many years before. The Morris/Austin Marina-series chassis' were really simply an enlarged Morris Minor design, with all the problems (and fun-handling advantages) that brought. Typical BL accountant-led engineering, raiding the old parts boxes wherever possible to fit to 'new' designs. Even the 1300 engine was a BMC A-series, but that did mean tough as old boots. They wouldn't get away with this kind of cheapskate engineering these days!

I have to say, however, they were very nice and light to drive for as long as they lasted.
