Solved: Rust still doesn't sleep
« on: April 06, 2014, 02:18:16 AM »
Some months ago I started a group puzzle featuring patinated cars. Here's another one, not quite as wacky as the last one, but big enough to offer enough possibilities for confusion and wrong guesses. Below you can find 36 cars with visible history as well as 36 pictures waiting to be matched to the first set. Some combinations are straightforward, some are tricky. For the beginning I will set a limit of 6 correctly found combinations per puzzler. Have fun!

Frederick, you have to find a pair of matching pictures. A single correct identification of a picture won't bring you anything, no points, no lock.

May I ask for correct pairings without revealing the cars, like P-15?

I guess I will decide upon the situation. But this time your wish will be granted, the proposed pairing is correct.

Ha Ha!  I assume R (Sherwood) goes with 12 (Robin Hood S7); so Robin Hood of Sherwood (Forest)  ;).

Car and pairing are correct, but there is more to#15 in order to get that point.

Q appears to be a 1937 Graham Cavalier. I guess its pair should be #9, the 1966 AMC Cavalier concept car.

The Thrift-T was powered by an Onan engine.
I found the Onan assembly line and it's quite different:

That is the correct connection. Onan had several plants working. The picture shows their test room at the University plant in Minneapolis.

This is your sixth point. You have to rest for a while. Perhaps I will lift that restriction later on. Let's see how the others cope with this puzzle.
