Well, I can't find any German car that looks even remotely close to this hot rod. Is it based on a German chassis with a body made out of various bits and pieces ?

no, this is a stock body, modified to be a hot rod. Engine has been replaced though

EMW 340 based oneoff with BMW V12 engine and as I remember with E32 BMW 750 chassis
