Solved - NEH 1645: Simca-Heise Special - 1949

Identify this car and when it was built for 1 point:

1949 Simca Special, a competition car build by owner-driver Stanley Heise of San Francisco. It's based on the Simca version of the Fiat Topolino.

PS I actually found this picture in another puzzle here on AP (by coincidence). I'm surprized nobody allready answered this one ...

Yes, I took the risk that no-one else would spot the picture elsewhere (I believe it was in one of Allemano's group puzzles).

This is a special based on Simca mechanicals and built in the USA by one Stanley Heise.
It's pretty awful!

Correct, and you're one more point nearer the Pros. It's a shockingly ugly car IMO when compared to some of the lovely Simca 8-based race cars. According to the auction house it took part in the 1951 Mayor's Cup at the Golden Gate GP.
