Some years ago I saw a car very similar to this one, perhaps the same, unrestored. A friend of mine bought it as Fiat 500 A monoposto, 1947...some years later he sold it without being able to discover who did it. The only think I remember is that the engine head was signed M.M., Motori Marino.

If it's the same car, you should ask your friend: some years ago him and the new owner met at a dinner and the new owner told him what it was...at least that what he said lately! I should have the names somewere...I'll let you know ;)

Do you mean the Testata Marino cylinder head?

I suppose Testata Marino and Motori Marino were from the same factory; the engine I saw had a double M in a parallelogram logo on the head.
I'm said I can't ask nothing to my dear friend Vito who died a couple of years ago. I don't know if he got further news about the car he had sold...anyway I will be glad to know its history.

Oh...I did not know Mr. S. passed away.
Anyway He was with other Topolino owners at a meeting and during a dinner, he passed along some pictures of his new purchased car, the puzzle car. One of the men present there, a collector from Turin was one of the previous owners and recognized the car. He gave him some more details, but you are right, he was not able to id the builder. I found it out later.

Odd thing - the photo appears to have been taken at a modern retrospective event, and usually these are widely photographed, and the images appear on multiple photo-stream websites. But I can't find a thing.  Really unusual for this to happen.
I must be right - that's what it says on Wikipedia

Yes, that is the one from the site where it was for sale.
If you google Topolino and something else, that I can't remember, you'll find this too:
