Yes!

Wendax

Was it used between Sicily and mainland Italy?

Paul Jaray

It was a prototype but the builder was indeed from Sicily.
Are you remembering something or was it just a lucky guess?

Wendax

That was about all I could remember.  :(

Paul Jaray

He was a motorcycle driver too...better known for that.

Paul Jaray

His name was linked to a British motorcycle brand.
His nickname was Italian...if you google the english translation of that, you'll have a brand of Cigarettes.

His surname consists of 2 words XX XXXXX.
The british motorcycle brand is quite known but it had also a very strong link to the Automotive field, plus with a very, VERY known italian man who later set up a globally known brand of sports cars.
The translation of his nickname is 2 words XXXXX XXXXX, that is also a brand of cigarettes.
His nickname was in Italian XXXXXXX XXXX.
Find one of this words and the rest will follow!

Half way, but stuck!

I think the cigarette brand is Black Devil which makes the nickname Diavolo Nero.
But that leads me to Omobono Tenni who was not from Sicily and whose name doesn't fit in the pattern.

That is good!

thanks, but I will have no chance finding its name

Paul Jaray

There's no more to be found.
Giuseppe de Salvo built this vehicle around 1941 and remained a one-off.
He built a 750 Sport, BMW-powered, in 1950 too!

Well done, point for you!

pnegyesi

thanks, with your clues and Wendax's hint it was easy :)
