1701: You should tell me a maker\designer\tuner\coachbuilder and so on, who worked on a Morris Mini Minor in the '60s. Given the number, 1701, you can assume it's starting with 'A', and my clue is that is quite known.
10801: Bertone it is!
10701: ?? I already gave you that number, (FIAT 1100 COUPE VICTORIA, 1941). It's not Garavini or Pininfarina but one of the biggest ones.

1701 : Alec Issigonis ?
10701 : Allemano ?
May we continue with #100801 ?
Ciao,

1701: Not Issigonis. Starts with 'A', ends with 'R' and contains an 'X'.
10701: Not Allemano. Clue: this number is very close to your 10801 guess.......

A clue. please.
Quite obscure. From California. Reported in just an issue of a magazine about Kit Cars but without further details...same company seems to be operating in Canada in 2007 but as a repair and paint shop.
All the above is the useless clue.
The name is quite long, 4 words. Last one is 'coachworks'.

10701 : very close to 10801, which was a prolific name.  I think I don't catch the hint.  I'm thinking of Bartoletti and Bianchi, but both of them don't seem very goog guesses.  Another hint ?
100801 : White (2) ?

10701: those are close...yours is VERY close and since 10801 was very prolific, you can assume I listed more than 100 models under that name! I won't penalize you, I know I've not been that clear.  ;)
100801: Yes!

With the "first word is a number" hint given, it must be Ten Quality Custom Coach Works.

Active till 1907 circa. Production started, according to different sources in 1900 (or 1897 and 1899 according to others!)
1908 is a crucial year for the company.
